KUTIYA INVESTMENTS is an investment holding and incubation company
which has been established with its initial purpose to focus on diversified opportunities in South and Southern Africa. We target companies that either show high growth potential or are strong market leaders in their sectors and require capital and strategic input to fulfil their growth potential.

We have strong relationships and access to all major funding institutions in South Africa (banking and capital markets) and access to offshore financial institutions. As an investment holding company, we see value creation emanating from strong independent management teams with strategic input from their investment partners.
We are not driven by time horizons. We are a long-term player looking to partner with businesses over the medium and long term for the benefit of all parties.
Meet the team
Mr. TT Mboweni (Chairman)
Mr. Mboweni was a labour minister in the first democratic government of South Africa led by Mr. Nelson Mandela. He thereafter held the position of Governor of the South African Reserve Bank for ten years overseeing a period of recovery and unprecedented growth post-apartheid. More recently he was requested to assist the government of Cyril Ramaphosa as Finance Minister. Mr Mboweni has since stepped down as Finance Minister and post a self-imposed one-year 'cooling-off' period has now embarked into business.
He is currently the Regional Advisor for Goldman Sachs, Non-Executive Director and Deputy Chairperson of Zijin Platinum in South Africa, the Chairperson for Accelerate Property Fund, and a Non-Executive Director of Discovery Limited amongst several other commitments within the private sector and academia.
He is also a Member of Total Oil Marketing’s Strategic Consultative Committee for Africa and the Middle East (Equivalent to an Advisory Board) and is Chairman of the Board of Directors of a pan-African Think Tank, the African Center for Economic Transformation based in Accra, Ghana.
Kolosa Madikizela
Dr. Madikizela holds a PhD in Construction Economics and Management from the University of Cape Town. Her research focused on exploring the relationship between diversity, leadership, and innovation within the South African construction industry. Recently, she served as the Managing Director at Pragma Africa.
Dr. Madikizela’ 2O-year career spans the Construction, Property Development, and Engineering sectors where she has occupied Senior Management, Executive Management, and CEO-level positions at various multinational organisations, including Pragma Global, Aurecon Group, Shell SA, The Life Healthcare Group, The Aveng Group, and Nexus Facilities Management Company.
She is a seasoned director having served on numerous boards. She served on the industry advisory boards for Industrial Engineering at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology and Stellenbosch University and at the University of Johannesburg. She is currently an industry expert on the industry advisory board for the Built Environment at the Department of Construction Economics and Management at the University of Cape Town.
Andrew Costa
Andrew is a qualified commercial lawyer and started his career at Cliffe Dekker attorneys where he was a partner.
He left Cliffe Dekker to join Standard Bank. He was a member of the Investment Bank executive committee and was a director and head of the Debt Capital Markets and acting head of the Equity Capital Markets where he raised capital for sovereigns, supra-sovereigns, corporates, and municipalities. He has well-established relationships with the South African and offshore investor markets. Andrew left Standard Bank to help to list Accelerate Property Fund on the JSE.
He was appointed Chief Operating Officer reporting directly to the chairman of the board. Andrew was responsible for running the day-to-day operations of the company and compiling and implementing the short-term, medium-term, and long-term strategy of the company. He left the company in March 2O23 to help establish Kutiya Investments.
George Lo
George Lo (Co-Founder) is an experienced banker starting his career at FirstRand (Head of East Asia), then at Standard Chartered both in Johannesburg and London (Director, Corporate Finance) before moving to Standard Bank Group (Executive Vice President of Investment Banking and later Executive Head of Africa China Banking) where he was instrumental in driving strategic opportunities between the Africa China trade and investment corridor.
George serves as the co-founder and managing director of Vumida Holdings. Vumida is a multifaceted investment group with diversified interests across various industries.
